ABOUT THE SPF COMMUNITY WATCH SCHEME (CWS)
- The CWS, officially launched on 11 December 2021 is a
community-policing initiative by the Singapore Police Force (SPF), co-developed
with the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC).
- It’s designed to be
very flexible — minimal commitment required, and you can be involved in
whatever way suits you.
- As a member, you’ll
receive crime alerts, advisories, and relevant updates. You’re encouraged to
share these with your family, friends, and wider community — because awareness
is a powerful part of preventing crime.
- There are also
opportunities to take part in training, workshops, and other police-community
activities.
HOW IT's ORGANISED: INTEREST-BASED
- Instead
of being tied to a location, the CWS is interest-based.
- The
scheme is structured into five broad categories: Home, Work /
Learning, Transport, Lifestyle, and Cyber.
Within
those categories, there are “interest groups” so you can pick what matters
most to you:
1. Home:
Neighbours on Watch — Stay updated on crime news around your neighbourhood.
2. Work
/ Learning:
2a. Workers on Watch — Be informed about crime in workplaces and schools.
2b. Airport Workers on Watch — Be informed
about crime amongst airport communities.
3. Transport:
3a. Riders on Watch (for public transport)
3b. Vehicles on Watch (for car owners
with dashcams).
4. Lifestyle:
Cyclists on Watch — Receive crime and road-safety updates for cyclists.
5. Cyber:
Cyber Guardians on Watch — Focused on online scams, cyber hygiene, and
cybercrime alerts.
Why It Matters
- The CWS is about empowering the community: by joining, you become a partner to the police in keeping Singapore 'safer'.
- It allows participation from all walks of life — commuters, remote workers, online shoppers, cyclists — whatever your lifestyle, there’s a role.
- When you act — even just sharing crime advisories or spotting suspicious activity — you contribute to a larger safety network.
